Reproductive justice

as coined by 12 Black women in 1994, is a framework, movement, vision and clear roadmap for our collective futures. It guides us towards a future where every human is able to exercise their right to: bodily autonomy, have (or not have) children, and parent the children they have in safe and sustainable communities (SisterSong).

This is an in-person, ticketed and online registration-only event for Black women, femmes and non-binary folks age 21+— if this is you please come through— if it is not, see you soon at our next event! This is a spoken English language event focusing on people with uteruses and vaginas. We hope to support language diversity and justice in our future events.

Chelsea Williams-Diggs
Chelsea Williams-Diggs

Chelsea Williams-Diggs (she/her) is a reproductive justice practitioner, radical truth-teller, and lifelong student of Black feminist thought. As the Executive Director of the New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF), Chelsea’s work is grounded in her lived experiences and a deep commitment to community care.

She has served as a clinic escort, is a trained abortion doula, and frequently speaks and leads workshops on abortion access and reproductive justice. She has been featured in prominent media outlets, including The New York Times, Politico, HuffPost, and The Nation.

Chelsea holds a BA from Georgetown University and an MA in Public Policy, with a concentration in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, from The George Washington University. When she’s not working to advance abortion access, you can find her on her yoga mat, reading about revolution, or planning her next adventure.

Pastor Kaji Spellman Douša
Pastor Kaji Spellman Douša

Pastor Kaji Spellman Douša (pronounced “doe-sha”) is the first woman and also the first Black woman to serve as the head of her 214-year-old congregation, the Park Avenue Christian Church, in Manhattan.

An outspoken advocate for reproductive justice, Pastor Kaji leads many national rallies and mass actions as a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood.

A founder of the Sanctuary Caravan, Pastor Kaji is known for her work in building networks of thousands of immigrant-led advocates across the country. Through her groundbreaking religious freedom lawsuit Douša v. DHS (read more), a federal judge recently ruled that the Department of Homeland Security illegally tracked, surveilled and retaliated against her for her ministry to migrants (read more)

 She is the recipient of several national and international awards, including the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference’s Ella Jo Baker Social Justice Award and Yale Divinity School’s William Sloane Coffin Justice Award.

Kimbritive is breaking down walls and opening up the conversation so that we all can be better informed!
